Please refer to the Google Maps <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/maps\/documentation\/javascript\/get-api-key?utm_source=geoblog&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=2016-geo-na-website-gmedia-blogs-us-blogPost&amp;utm_content=TBC\">API documentation<\/a> on how to obtain an API key. If you need any information or help with this please contact <a href=\"mailto:support@instantatlas.com\">support@instantatlas.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Select from the \u2018Map Type\u2019 drop down list the Google Maps layer you wish to see by default when you open your report or toggle on the background layer. The end-user will be able to change the Google Maps layer they see by switching between the layer buttons on the top right of the map.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/08\/image196.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/08\/image196.png\" alt=\"image196\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9131\" width=\"824\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/08\/image196.png 824w, https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/08\/image196-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 824px) 100vw, 824px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Publisher will automatically re-project all base and contextual layers you have uploaded for your report into the geographic coordinate system \u2018WGS 1984 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere)\u2019 to match the Google Maps projection.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/08\/image7.png\" alt=\"image7\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7021 size-full\" width=\"22\" height=\"20\" \/>\u00a0It is vital that you consider the following points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0This re-projection only works if the Publisher knows the coordinate system of your map files. If you are using ESRI shapefiles that include a .prj file, the Publisher can pick up the coordinate system information out of this file. If your shapefile does not have a .prj file or if you are working with MapInfo MID\/MIF or TAB files, you will need to select the appropriate coordinate system from the Layer Properties in the \u2018Coord System\u2019 tab. Alternatively you can re-project these map layers before using them in InstantAtlas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0The re-projection will only work if your map file(s) are in one of the following supported coordinate systems:<br \/>\no Un-projected coordinate systems (e.g. latitude\/longitude)<br \/>\no Coordinate systems that use a Transverse Mercator projection (e.g. British National Grid, UTM zones)<br \/>\no Global coordinate systems using a Mercator projection.<br \/>\no Lambert Conformal Conic projection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your map layers are already in the correct projection, click on the \u2018Advanced\u2019 button and select the option \u2018Do not re-project any layers\u2019 in the drop down list.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2020\/11\/GoogleReproject.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2020\/11\/GoogleReproject.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34012\" width=\"634\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2020\/11\/GoogleReproject.png 634w, https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2020\/11\/GoogleReproject-300x110.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When pubishing a dynamic report the InstantAtlas Publisher will give you the option to add background layers to the map(s) of you report.
