Each indicator value is represented using a horizontal bar that is superimposed upon reversible shaded ranges. Each indicator can operate on a different scale in the bars column. This chart is well suited to displaying performance indicators but can also be applied more widely to other data. For example, you might decide to remove the baseline column or to change the symbols that are displayed alongside the indicator values. Please see section \u2018Area Profile \u2013 Spine Chart\u2019, sub-section \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/instantatlas-desktop\/desktop-user-guide\/the-instantatlas-area-profile-template\/area-profile-spine-chart\/#Configuration\">Configuration<\/a>\u2019 for detailed information.<\/p>\n<h2><span>Data Preparation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>For each indicator you include in your report you may wish to provide the following associates in the JSON data file(s). These match the default configuration of the chart:<\/p>\n<p><strong>target<\/strong> \u2013 target values shown as text in the \u2018Target\u2019 column and as vertical bars in the \u2018Performance\u2019 column of the chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>baseline<\/strong> \u2013 baseline values shown as text in the \u2018Baseline\u2019 column of the chart<\/p>\n<p><strong>trend<\/strong> \u2013 values shown as symbols in the \u2018Trend\u2019 column of the chart<\/p>\n<p><strong>state<\/strong> \u2013 values shown as symbols in the \u2018Value\u2019 column of the chart<\/p>\n<p>The suggested data structure is shown in the \u2018iadatasheet\u2019 worksheet of the workbook called IAworkbookAreaProfile_Performance.xls. There is no need to add custom breaks to Metadata unless you wish to display custom ranges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to use custom breaks use the \u2018breaks\u2019 element to specify break values for each indicator. These must be separated by semicolons and will define the number and size of the ranges shown in the chart. The break values can be different for each indicator but the number of breaks must be the same.
