The Design Page

There are three tabs in the top left corner of Report Builder:

Actions tab:

  • Save – save the current report to IAS. You will be prompted to specify a name for your report, to add some keywords and to choose the theme in IAS to which your report will be related. The keyword(s) you enter are added to the dc:subject.keyword metadata element of IAS for the report in question; an end user typing the same keyword(s) into the Explorer search of the IAS user website will locate this report.
  • Delete – delete the current report from IAS.
  • Discard Changes – discard any changes you have made since the last save. The session will reload to its previous saved state.
  • Done – close Report Builder. You will lose any unsaved changes.

Report Properties tab:

  • Properties – change the title, language/locale, description or IAS theme for the report.
  • Layout – change settings such as the paper size, margins and letter spacing. It is recommended that you choose the desired settings at the outset or at an early stage in building your report, as changing these later on can cause major changes to Widget positioning in the report.
  • Pages – manage the pages in the report. If you click to add a new page, the view to the right will change to the new blank page. If you wish the view to return to a previous page, click ‘Pages’ once more and click the page you wish to view. You can also reorder the pages using this screen.
  • Font – change the size, style and family of the text in your report. It is possible to change the text show in text/table widgets and chart widgets independently. As with the Layout settings, it is recommended that you choose the desired font settings at the outset or at an early stage in building your report, as changing these later on can cause major changes to Widget positioning in the report.
  • Colour Scheme – globally change the colour for headings, table header cells and text boxes in your report.
  • Organise Data – click ‘Organise Data’ to add further IAS themes to the report so that you can select their Indicators for your Widgets. You can also use this screen to remove Themes from the list.
  • Page Properties – click ‘Page’ Properties to set a background image for the current page or to change the page border. To add a background image simply enter a URL link to an image on the web e.g. http://myserver.com/myimage.jpg. You can set a different background image and border for each page in your report.
  • New Page – click ‘New Page’ to add a new page to your report.

Toolbox:

  • The toolbox lists the different types of Widgets that can be used in a report. Simply click and drag a widget onto the page on the right to add it to the report.
