Important Files

A report folder with numerous report files is generated after a report has been published with the Publisher. These report files contain different important elements that make up the report, some of which can be opened and edited directly by the users. Please see the table below for a summary of these report files.

 

Report File Description
atlas.html This file is the start-up webpage of the report once it is saved on a web server. You can open the report by linking to this file or embedding the report into a webpage.
atlas-launch.html You can use this file to open the report while it is saved on a local or shared drive. Please see Starting Your Dynamic Report for further information, related files and restrictions.
config.xml This file contains the design settings of the report. You can make design changes by opening the config.xml with the InstantAtlas Designer.
custom.js This file allows you to add customised JavaScript to the report to perform additional functionalities. This file can be edited using a Text Editor and the code will be executed once the report has completed loading. Please see a separate section on custom.js for further information.
data.js This file contains the data exported from the Data Manager Excel workbook or Access database and it should not be edited directly. Users should always use the Data Manager workbook or Access database to add and modify report data before exporting it to data.js.
default.css This file contains the style properties of the report in Cascading Style Sheet (CSS). You can open and edit this style sheet via the InstantAtlas Style Editor or within the InstantAtlas Designer.
geographies.csv This file stores the codes and names of all base and contextual layers as defined in the Publisher. Please see a separate section on geographies.csv for further information.
help.htm This file provides information on individual components that make up the report. It is accessible via the Help button in the report’s Menu Bar by default. You can open and edit this file with a text editor or other HTML editors.
map.js This file stores the property settings of all layers as specified in the Publisher. It can be opened and edited in a text editor. Please see a separate section on map.js for further information.
notes.htm This file is used as a placeholder file for the indicator-related and geography-related files, accessible via the notes icon in the Data Explorer and Table components in a default report.
